Hey all, thanks so much for a great showing Thursday at Lakeshore. What a great audience! And congrats to our “newbies” for experiencing their first outing with us!

This next Thursday (July 31) is our last time together until September, unless you are going to participate in the Ukulele classes in August, either as a newb or as a helper. If you’re a newbie and haven’t let me know you’re going to attend, please email or text me to confirm your spot. Also, let me know if you have your own ukulele or need to borrow one. If you’re a “vet” and want to help out, please let me know. We’re supposed to have 13 or more participants, so I can certainly use the help! We could also use some extra ukuleles to loan out.

If you’re a vet and don’t want to help, you have an opportunity to keep strumming together…..at a different location. Cyndy has offered to open the gallery at Mountain Valley Arts Council on Thursdays, at our regular time (1 pm), for anyone who wants to get together. The plan right now is to work on problem areas in songs, strumming patterns from the recent workshop, open mics, and sing-alongs.

The next performance scheduled is at the Albertville Farmers Market on Saturday, September 13, 9am-11am. There will be three rehearsals, July 31, September 4, and September 11, to prepare for this event. I encourage all to participate and also to consider doing an “open mic” during the event. The only other performance in September will be at Terrace Lake Senior Living CommunityDate TBD

From Susan: Below is the menu needs list for the Greg Gent luncheon on Monday, September 8. Please let Susan know if you’re able to contribute any of the remaining items.

We have 9 people signed up for the beginning ukulele class that starts August 7. • Week of 7-1-25 Info

    Hey Ukesters,

Wow! What a month it was! June certainly was full of activity for us and I thank you all for being so giving of your time and talents to make all of our performance commitments a success. But I promise to never ever book that many events in one month again.

Thanks to Betty for leading the pack with the Calico project and Town Hall concert last Thursday and thanks to all of you who helped her make it run smoothly. I heard you outdid yourselves in hosting the workshop, refreshments afterwards, performing at Town Hall, and all the other tasks that were put before you. Major thanks to Mike and all who helped him with the sound system! I listened to all of the performances (thanks to Ted and Steve for videoing) and was so impressed with the sound from all the artists, including the Ukesters. Thanks also to Susan and Steve for housing David, the bass player for Webb-Tigert. I have put all the videos and pics from the day on our Ukesters FB page. If you would like me to send them directly to you, please let me know. I didn’t want to clog everyone’s email up by sending them out to all.

July brings us a much needed rest from rehearsal (July 3), regular rehearsals on July 10 and 31, the EAA Breakfast on July 12, and performances on July 17 and July 24. I will send out an email next week with a playlist for the 10th rehearsal.

Happy birthday to our members with July birthdays!

    16 Bonnie

    21 Johnny

    25 Gail

    30 Linda

    30 Ted

As for the EAA breakfast, thanks to all who have volunteered to help out. Betty still needs a few more spots filled. If you are able to help in any of those jobs, please email Betty.

We still need workers for the following:

    • Servers -1 more needed
    • Sweepers before and after breakfast-1 more needed
    • Chair cleaners both before and after breakfast – 2 needed
    • Dishwashers who will wash pots and pans after breakfast

***For those not cooking, please wear your Ukester shirt.

Breakfast will be served from 9-10:30.

    Cost is $9.00 per plate.

Please come out and eat if you possibly can!  We split the proceeds with the EAA after the food is paid for.

August will be a month of rest from regular rehearsals and all performances. I, along with some of you helping, will be getting our newbies started/caught up so that when we resume in September, we’ll have a fuller house! I’m so proud of the newbs that hung out with us in June, despite all the craziness. I think we’re about to have 8-10 in our August beginner sessions. Veteran members are welcome to come help with our adventures-each Thursday in August, 1-2:30 at the Guntersville Public Library. Let me know if you’re available to help.

I hope you all have a relaxing week celebrating Independence Day and enjoying time with your family and (other) friends.

    I appreciate you all!

  • June 26, 2025 Information

    Hey Ukesters,

Thanks for another great week of performances!

We had a wonderful showing at the Sardis Community Center, playing for their senior adults. They were a very interactive group and were complimentary of our presentation. And we got a “tip” for playing-a donation of $45!

And what a group for the Trash Panda game! Thanks to all who participated. You looked and sounded great and I really appreciated all who sent me pics and videos of the event. I’ve added them to the Ukesters FB page under Media, then Albums, then June 2025 performances. If you have more pics or vids you’d like to share, send them my way.

Thanks so much to Goodie for spearheading an impromptu jam session last Thursday while many were on their way to Huntsville for the TP game! I heard they had a good time!

This week is another eventful one! Thursday at 1:00 we’ll meet at the Guntersville Library for a private workshop presented by Calico for just our group. You will need the song “Sway” that I sent out last week. Copies will be available at the workshop if you don’t have access to a printer. You’ll also need Just Over in Glory LandCome Sing With Us, and Hello Mary Lou. Following the workshop, we will have refreshments and get to know our guests. Please bring your favorite snack food/dessert to share with the group if you can. Paper products and bottled water will be provided.

Betty needs to get a pre-count of tickets sold so that Town Hall can be adequately set up. Please send her an email by Monday stating how many tickets you have sold. (It would be wonderful if all the tickets have been sold by now!) She will need all unsold tickets and the $ for the sold tickets turned in Thursday before the workshop starts. Bonus points for having your ticket $ and unsold tickets in an envelope with your name on it.

Thursday evening, please be at Town Hall by 6:00 (Ukesters shirt/jeans) to get settled in before the Ukesters open the concert at 7:00, followed by the Webb-Tigert Duo (Ukesters play Just Over in Gloryland with them), and then Calico will close out the concert. In order to plan, I need to know if you Do or Do Not intend to participate Thursday night. It would be great to have every member there…including the newest members. Please email or text me by Monday to let me know of your intentions.

The next offering of beginning/intermediate sessions will be in January. Cyndy has offered the Mountain Valley Arts Council building as a meeting space for those who want to continue playing/jamming in August.
